Protocol & Instructions

Goal: Attempt phase cancellation of internal tinnitus tone using Just Noticeable Difference (JND) methodology.

  1. Calibration: Set volume to minimum (-80dB). Initialize Audio. Slowly increase volume until barely audible.
  2. Frequency Match: Use coarse sliders to find the general range, then use +/- buttons to find the exact pitch of your tinnitus. Do this for one ear at a time.
  3. Loudness Match: Adjust volume to match the perceived intensity of your tinnitus.
  4. Phase Experiment: Once frequency and volume are matched, slowly sweep the Phase slider. You are looking for a "null point" where the internal ringing momentarily decreases or changes character.

Note: Phase shift is calculated using a DelayNode based on the current frequency. Time Delay = Phase° / (360 * Frequency).
